Amargosa Spring!


Mining started here at Amargosa Spring around 1850 and continued off and on decades. Here is the Spring that Brian is looking at.
In 1860 there were three ore crushers (arrastres ) operating here and the ore yielded $2500,00 per ton. They were Chilean-style Arrastres, the stone to the right being part of one.
The Amargosa cabin is believed to be the first structure in this part of the desert, being built around 1850. Photos to the left and below.

This is the oldest Anglo gold mine in southern Califronia.
