Bristol Wells ( Bristol City) Lincoln County !

Bristol Well north of Pioche. Sometime around 1872 a furnace was built to treat the silver-ore brought down from the Bristol Mine. Soon after a 5-stamp mill was built,it was in 1880. To the south a little bit they had three Charcoal Ovens to convert the pinyon logs to charcoal for the smelter. Around 1890 a new smelter was built and Bristol Well had a Post Office with about 400 people.

Activity ended in 1893 and Bristol was inactive until 1900 when the Leaching plant was built to recover copper. Two year after that the townsite lost all hope for recovery.

This is one of the two shacks we found here. This one out by the road.

The second house had a nice fire place and a bed in it. I don't know what the JW OR TL MEANS.

Here is the second house, it was right beside what the Mill ruins. There were four kilns, but they tore one down to build this stone cabin. You can see the charcoal burnt stones in it.

Heres a photo of the Mill ruins at Bristol Wells.

Just south of the site was three ovens, they are not as huge as the ones at Ward but they were interesting all the same.

This is a photo of the windmill at Bristol.

Here is a close up of the slag pile in front of the cabins.
