Cherry Creek Depot, Nevada !

The Historic Cherry Creek Depot was built in 1907 to accommodate passengers and freight of the Nevada Northern Railway. The Kitchen was added in 1917 but no further changes were made to the building. The structure included a waiting room in the front of the building with a ticket agent's office and baggage room. The Railroad agent also lived in a living room and bed room provided in the building.

When the Nevada Northern Railroad closed in 1983, the depot was abandoned.. Los Angeles Water and Power acquired the railroad right of way and donated the building to the Museum with the requirment it be moved.

The relocation of the Cherry Creek Depot was a monumental undertaking. The 85 year old structure was moved a distance of 55 miles to where it sits today. The process began by the documentation of the building prior to the move. A foundation was prepared for the building in Ely. The building was then elevated, and a specially designed trailer was backed into place. The building was then lowered and secured on the trailer for the 55 mile ride to Ely. On December7,1991 the Depot made the frist segment of it's historic trip. On December 8, the building was set in place on the foundation where it sits today.

Since it's move, the building has undergone some $20,000 worth of restoration by contractors, staff, and volunteers of White Pine Public Museum. For more photos of Cemetery, See Cemetery !

Sept. 7th, 2004, here is the only thing left at the Depot. The wooden tank has long since gone, but the tower is still there!
