Kiln Canyon Kilns, at the intersection stage road, Nye County !

Here is were the road go's south on up Kiln Canyon. In the old days, the one coming down from the Tybo Kilns above was the stage route to Belmont. This must have been an exciting ride, it made me nervous just trying to drive back up it. Today the old road is completely washed out. You could come down it on an ATV, but I bet it would be a thrill.
From here north over the ridge about a mile is the off road set of Kilns. There is two kilns at this location. We also found a few cabin around in the brush.
The Hot Creek range has a total of 24 Charcoal kilns, the biggest collection on one range in Nevada. This kilns were in use around 1875 or 76.
Notice how the outside layer has fallen off. A lot of kilns built around this time have already fell. The brick kilns seem to hold up better.
This is a photo looking north up the old stage road. We made it about three quarters of a mile up it, but I will not do that again.
