Kiln Canyon Kilns, off road set, Nye County !

Our camp was about a mile below the intersection in Kiln Canyon. It was a mile north up a small wash across to the canyon up to here. all total I would say we had a five mile round trip. This set of two is almost competely surrounded by trees. This is a beautiful narrow canyon, but it is steep on both sides.
On the way up we found a wide spot in thew canyon, and the stone foundation above. There seemed to be a small camp of some kind there. This photo is from the back side looking down the canyon. The other two sets of kilns in the area are, dead end road set, and intersection set.
There were a lot stuff around here, we found a charcoal pit that was used prior to the kilns, small stone oven like foundations, this is a cool site and well worth the walk. By the way it took use around six hours to make the trip.
I spent a lot of time in here, it was 110 plus out side and I was cooking. The kiln felt just like an ice box when standing inside. It doesn't look like they will be around too many more years, they are starting to fall apart.
Here is a couple the small oven foundation that seem to be all over Kiln Canyon. Some of them were even out of brick, but they all were down. There is nothing but sand and rock for miles around, and the heat was almost unbearable.
I really enjoy seeing the beauty of the desert. The one thing that surprised me the most when I first came out to Nevada, was the flowers in the desert, there are so many of them.
