Fact, everyone knows that Howard Egan was a Mormon. Fact, everyone knows that Howard Egan was a guide to the Gold Fields of California. Fact, everyone knows that Egan founded a shorter route by which Egan Canyon in White Pine County was named after. Fact, everyone knows that Howard Egan had many wives. But, does anyone know that it is not unlawful to kill anyone mess-in with your family if you are a Mormon, in Utah, in a Mormon court. Have you ever heard of the March 6,1852 Justifiable Homicide Act, which came about directly from the Egan Case.
Howard Egan was arraigned in the U. S. District Court (First District) on October 17, 1851, before the remaining federal Justice, Zerrubbable Snow, an arraignment probably made in order to disprove the statement of the "run away" judges.
Now to step back and get a better understanding of Howard Egan, lets review a little of his history. Howard was born June 15, 1815 in Tuellemere, Kings County, Ireland. When he was eight years old his mother died and his father moved the family to Montreal Canada. Five years later his father died leaving the family of nine children orphaned. At thirteen Egan took to the seas and became a sailor for many years. It wasn't until early in 1838, he took up the trade of rope making. It was at this point in his life that he made the acquaintance of his first wife, Tamson Parshley, whom he married on December 1, 1838.

Book Reviews
I
have finished the history of "U.S. West, The Saga of Wells & Fargo", by Lucius Beebe and Charlies Clegg. The first half
had a lot of interesting things about how the express business got started. The second half got more interesting to me, because
it cover just about all of the towns in Nevada, with history of the towns along with their relation to Wells and Fargo. I found it real good reading.
It is a large book with over 300 pages and a great deal of early American History. If you are into the Wild West, it would be a must for the book
shelve.

Trip Logs
November 6th, 2005
Well it has been a while, and we need to get out of the house. Wesley and I decided to tackle Plan B for todays trip.
It is overcast and not a lot of sun, but it is not real cold. We started for Pioche about 7:00 am. Priority for today is the
Bristol Wells Cemetery.
After we drove up to the Kilns at Bristol, I saw a two tracker headed south. It was just about a half mile and it was right
on the road, you can not miss it because of the fence. There were four mounds and one marker left to be seen. I don't know how I ever missed
it. I had explored several roads around there, but not that one.
After the cemetery, I wanted to take Wesley up to the Silverhorn I found five years back. We explored the Fairview Range for about two hours,
Yeah, I forgot how to get there. I think we were real close at one point, but I turned down hill and I should have went up. I did not want to
kill to much time doing this because I still wanted to stop at the Boot Hill Cemetery at Pioche before running the Bennett Pass road for the charcoal kilns
on our way home. So we left and drove to Pioche.
When we got in Pioche, for the sake of time I stop at the Museum to ask about how many Cemeteries they have in town. Lucky I did, they have three, and she told
me how to get to the Boot Hill. At the end of the Comstock Road, you can not miss it. This was a pretty cool cemetery. They planted them all in a row, I think
they redid the head boards, but they looked cool anyway. Got some good pictures. Now we are off to Bennett Pass.
A fossil hunter I met a while back told me there were Charcoal Kilns up on Bennett Pass. We drove up there and there were roads going everywhere.
After running up and down a few, I decided to go on over into Dry Lake Valley, if I did not find them by then, we would have to head south
for 93 to get gas at Ash Springs. We were starting to run low, and I did not want to backtrack. I guess I will have to e-mail my friend for more information. It will have to be another trip back to find them. Well, that is how things always go. It seems we always need to return.
We had a great day exploring and I got some really good shots. I can at least add two more Cemeteries to my list now.

W e are completely at a lost about Brian. He was not only my partner
but a very close friend as well. He will be missed by many. Brian wanted all of his friends to have one big bash on him. So everyone met at PT'S Friday night
and had a party for him. There was a lot more people there than I knew. Brian was so much into the history of this state, his last wishes were to have his ashes
spread over Jack Longstreet's Red Rock Ranch. Robin, Brian's wife told me that is just where he is going! Nevada has lost a true Ghosttowner for sure!
Upcoming Plans, UPDATED
Plan A, if I can come up with the money, Brenda and I are going to Ely the 7th and 8th of this month. This will rap up our plans and trips for this year. I hope to get the much needed photos of the Murals around Ely for my article I have on the back burner. I will try to make it over to Eureka to get Diamond City, I hope. This will all be based on the weather up there. I know we will get to visit with Al and Donna, even if I don't get anything else on this trip!
To everyone who reads our newsletter, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from Bob and Brenda and Family!
