Pigeon Springs Mill

DIRECTIONS: Death Valley Basin, Esmeralda County on State Route 266, five miles east of Palmetto.

Around the 1890's this was known as Pigeon Springs Mill, it was a small settlement supporting a saloon, store and a Roadhouse. After 1899 mining slowed down.

Here is the frame that supported a ten-stamp Mill. The upright beams are solid wood made from one log. The beams are 8 inches by 18 inches and about 20 feet tall.

This is all that is left of the Mill settlement. There was a lot of trash, cans and the regular stuff.

While Brian and I were up on the Mill Site, Brian saw a single grave down on the flats just northeast of the Mill.

We found a stone marker reading, Nancy Walker 1894 to 1906. I don't know if there were any more we could not find markers to show it.
