Now this is not a gold mine settlement, but a very well known Ranch started by William Potts for who it was named after.
William first started the ranch in the 1870's and it's reputation grew as one of the best cattle ranches in the state. The settlement got it's very own post office in 1898 with, you guessed it William Potts as postmaster, matter of fact all of the postmasters were Potts.
The ranch lasted up till 1942 when it was sold to Harvey Sewell and O.G. Bates. This site is well worth a visit, we didn't get over to Diana's Punch bowl but there is always another time.
