Brian and I headed south again for this Saturday; Hart was our projection this time. It was right over the Nevada border past Juan.
The Castle Mountain Mine has just about taken it over but there was some left for photos. It was a nice day and a good outing.

The weather cleared up in Vegas so we ventured up north past Gold Point to Sylvania; they had a LOT of snow the weeks before and it was
impossible to reach. Plan B, on to Montezuma and again we couldn't make it up the mountain because of snow. After checking out our Topo map we found
we were close to Silver Peak, out side of Silver Peak 21/2 miles we stumbled on to Blair. Blair was well worth the trip; it had a 120 mill stamp one of the largest
in the state. Got a lot of photos and headed for home again.

We had the interest in finding Finlay over the mountain at Delamar. I found out what a heavy snowdrift does when you have a skid plate
underneath. I slid right up on top and got kinda stuck! That's one we won't forget.

Another Saturday Brain and I headed up past Beatty to find the townsite of Pioneer. We were able to visit Pioneer, Pioneer Mine,
Yellowjacket Mine, Mayflower Mine then down to Rhyolite with a side trip to Goldbar. On the way home we found Carrara which wasn't hard and Ashton
a railroad town. We got a lot of good video and pictures on this trip.

Vacation time, and were off again this time in the Ely District. Starting at Ward we visited Ward Cemetery, Ward charcoal Ovens
then headed south to Minerva which was interesting. Past Minerva we found the Chief Mine which still has a lot of equipment left there. After that we drove
up to Osceola and camped for the night. Beautiful morning with Wheeler Peak over looking us. Day two started off with Piermont, Tungstonia, Sunkist, Siegal ,
Centerville,Stonehouse, through Cherry Creek and then Hunter. After that we found a campsite right out side Ely, Across from the Copper Mine. Day three we
drove into Ely and visited the Museum, also the Railroad museum where the Ghost train travels out of. Our next stop would be Lane City before making a base
camp in Illipah. Day four led out to Belmont Mill but after a wrong turn we went on to Treasure City instead. At about 10,000 feet this was interesting as well.
Coming down we made our way to Eberhardt, Shermantown back to Hamilton before heading back to camp. Day five we left base camp and made another trip up
and found the Belmont Mill, a guy could take all day taking photos here. But nothing like the Belmont Mine. If you can get up the mountain to it, it's really
something to see. This took us all day before heading back to base. Day six we started west to the Big Smoky Valley again for Kingston, Park Canyon, Jefferson
and Jett Canyon before trying to find a camp spot. Out in the middle of nowhere is the Sportmans Park, a good place to camp, with trees even! The last day we
drove into Tonopah to check out the Mining Park, got a bunch of pictures there. Leaving Tonopah and heading home we thought we would try Tokop again.
This time I found the right road and found the site. On the drive down the mountain we got to see Devils Gate which the old road went through. Past Beatty on
the way home I wanted to stop at Carrara again and find the town fountain, we did. Great vacation and I really got burnt this time out.

Another Saturday and we're going to find Sylvania. Brenda came along again for this trip. We found Sylvania and had a great day, a lot there to see.
On the way down the mountain we stopped and had lunch at the Jenny Lee #4 Mine Shack, it had a very nice tree to park under. Back down on 266 we found
Palmetto, Pigeon Spring Mill and then stopped and took pictures of Lida. On the way home we took a side trip at Scotty's Junction to Bonnie Claire to check out
a very interesting Mill, a lead Mill to be exact. Day was done and we were hot so we headed back to Vegas.

On this trip we were Pioche bound. We stopped at Caselton first, got some photos of Prince and the mine.
Then we ran into Pioche for some history and lunch. After that we headed up to Bristol Wells and the Jackrabbit Mine. The Bristol Mine and
the Ida May were lock up and we could not get there, but we had a good day. I'm so far behind on getting my photos posted
I don't know when I will get caught up.

Well were off and running for a long weekend trip. Starting our run with Finlay Nevada which we spent the night right out side of Finlay and
this will be our last trip there. We found it and got some good photo's. Coming up from Finlay we got a chance to see Bullionville and the Mill ruins. After
Bullionville we head up to Pioche and went acroos to Deer Lodge Nevada, had a great time there so much so we even stopped for lunch. While in the area we drove
down to Fay Nevada and did our photo shoot of it before heading over into Utah. In Utah we visited Gold Springs and Stateline, got a lot of photo's of the Mill Site
at Stateline. On the way back we stopped in at Modena Utah, it's not a ghost town but probably should be. Now to finish our trip, since we were having so much fun
we went back to Pioche and found the site of Silverhorn, that's a new for the books. Besides Brian and myself we took along my grandson TJ, he seemed to really
get a kick out of ghosttowning.
Aug 23-25,2001
This time we thought we'd take a vacation to fish right out side of Ely. But we had to get one more site, it was Monte Cristo and a few more shots of Shermantown.
Sept 22-28,2001

On our last try we got close but we didn't find Arrowhead. So Brian and I with the help of Jon Harms went back up to Streuben Knob to find it.
This was just a Saturday out for one town, and it paid off. Armed with just a photo out of Paher's book we looked till we found the spot the photo was taken
back in 1913. If you compare the photo from Paher and the one's we took you'll see. ARROWHEAD! Not to much left just a few dugouts and a lot of trash.
There is also a mine there that was claimed in 1965.

Great weather for a Saturday outing, topic for today Gold Butte in Clark County. Brian and I found the site along
with the Gold Butte mine, and the Gold Butte Cemetery which was a plus. The Black Jack mine did not a road going to it and we could see from below that there was just a shaft at the site. The Hilltop mine had a massive switchback, but it was so
bad that an ATV would have trouble jetting up it, so we tried for the Radio Crystal Mine. This took hours and we got within
less than a quarter mile of it. There could not have been much left but a hole. We did a ground search in the trees and could not locate it, but we had a very good outting.
