You guys do it right! This is a great site. I visited Delamar about 20 years ago and enjoyed it very much. My family was in the mining industry in Marysvale Utah area in 1800s and 1900s so I realize how hard life was in those days. Good luck, Ken Dalton

What an incredible web site. I'll be here all week at work going through the stories and pictures. People dream of doing what you guys do, you've brought it to the rest of the world. Living in mass. i've always wanted to take a trip out west and do that type of exploring. What do the stars look like at night out there in the desert?

Hello, I have a question for you. I am the great-granddaughter of Minnie Omaha. From what I am told from relatives she married an Atwell. She apparently ran a whore house in Belmont, NV, something to do with the Cosmopolitan. Do you have a book or ideas where I can purchase a book about the early days in Belmont, Nv. She apparently ran a saloon there, is that the Cosmopolitan? I do know that her old house is now a B&B but I don't know the name either. Can you help me with Grandma Atwell's history. Thanks.

Enjoyed you information on Bill Garrett and Arthur Coleman. Although my husband and I have lived in the Vegas Valley most of our lives we recently started exploring the Gold Butte area and are amazed by the beauty and history of the area. What a great place to explore and you can almost feel the presence of the "ghosts"! The secenry is stunning and there are so many roads to explore we plan many more visits!
Sincerely,
Rebecca Kelley

i visited silverbow mine while in the air force in 1985. it doesnt border area 51 but it does the tonapah test range. we went up a dirt road and past a couple of dead cattle at what the locals called stinking springs. seem to remember a small lake also. was nice to run into this website. i can pass photos on to my kids. they remember me coming home and talking about "our amazing dicovery" out in the desert.

In 1933 there was a mining claim filed close to the Keystone Mine, a little northwest. It's called the Monarch but I don't think it has anything to do with the well-known Monarch coal mine. If you get into that area again, I'd be curious to know what you find. Wish I were there to search!

I was very much impressed with your web pages while viewing them. Such a fantastic site you have designed with a wealth of information visitors can enjoy each and every time they return. Great photos of the old historic cementeries.

As a former resident of Goodsprings I'm sorry that so much of the town is gone. I lived there in 1960 an went to school there for 1 year. My grandmother Irene Nuttman was the owner of the Pioneer Saloon then until she died in Jan 1965. I live in No Calif and have not been back there since the late 60's. I would enjoy talking to anyone about the old town.

I really enjoy looking through your web page. We do mostly hiking in the mountains or where I can find old cabin's or any kind of structure that is still kinda standing. I just wanted to comment on your web page, that is has lots of great photo's. Where do we get directions to some of these places to go visit. We do have a 4x4 so can go anywhere to get to them. The farther out off the paved road the better as I don't care for the big city just the great weather here in Vegas. Well I won't ramble on.

Great site,
I grew up in Southern Nevada (Las Vegas) during the 60's & 70's. Couldn't be a better place to grow up if you ask me. I became a Clark County Land Surveyor in the late 70's/early 80's and did extensive work in the Sandy Valley, Goodsprings and adjoining lands. All us surveyors would go to the Pioneer Saloon for a "liquid lunch" (hey, it was HOT!!!) and I'll never forget having to use the restroom and having a female mannequin (dressed as a saloon girl) by the door looking right at you! It was unnerving!
I love the desert and when my wife and I visit (both S. Nevada natives) we love to travel into the desert for that tranquil feeling you cannot feel anywhere else.

Visited Masonic many times in the early and mid 1930s. It was a complete community with all structures upright and in place then, including the mill, but abandoned save for one part time resident. Your pictures show something very different.

We have been there several times over the past few years. It is a very cool place to visit. You can spend hours in there and not even come close to seeing everything. On my first visit, I found a draw string bag of Union Leader Cut Plug chewing tobacco. It is one of my prized possesions.
