Interesting site. I was just in Nevada, Las Vegas, and decided to tour some of Nevadas ghost towns on the way home to Colorado. Took 93 north so got to see several you have listed. I like Pioche and Caselton the best. If you want to see some Colorado Ghost Towns look at my site. http://www.rockymountainprofiles.com

I used come to silver peak when I was a child. My grandparents used to have a cabin there and were friends of Jim Gavin. We used to find old bottles and search the old dumps and mining sites. Looking forward to coming back soon.

I lived in Silver Peak from 1981-1989. Its a shame you didn't mention any of the history of those days - it was a boom-town in the early eighties.

We have been to this area on several occasions and we camp near the mill site. We are thinking of going again some time around Thanksgiving and would like to find the old cemetary. Our favorite mine to visit is the Gunsite. We see new things every time we go.

Hi Bob & Brenda. Great site. I especially enjoy your visits to Panaca. I grew up in that little town. Left in 1955 and settled here in the Great Northwest. I do manage to get back to Panaca occasionally, and still have family there.
The next time you are in the area you should visit Condor Canyon. In the "old" days the train ran through this canyon on it's way to Pioche. The canyon is a few miles north of town. Another popular site is the "Court Rock", right in the middle of town. Loved to climb all over that small mountain when I was a kid.
I worked at the mine in Caselton before leaving the area. Also spent a few months at a mine in the Bennet Pass area.
Keep up the good work.
Don
(PS...I have been to the Panaca Kilns many times. The summit area is also famous for it's "pinenut" crop.)

My Grandfather, John Stewart Phillips, had the Pittsburgh Liberty mine, and various others, in the vicinity. He died in 1909, a resident of, among other places, Carson City, NV.
He had also mined in Colorado, as well as some other places, before his Pittsburgh Liberty mining.
Your site is wonderful.

Bob,
Hi, I was doing some on-line research about my Great-Grand father Issac Frazee. I went down to see an exhibit in Valley Center, California today and found your website while looking on line tonight. Are you Issac Jenkinson Frazee's Grandson or Great-Grandson. E-mail to let me know. THANKS ALOT!

Hi Bob & Brenda, just found your wonderful web site and am truly impressed. I have been trying to find info. about a young man that was supposedly killed in the Sweetwater Valley in April, 1863 for horse stealing. His name: James B. Sears. Was this valley a part of NV or CA? Am confused about its location. Any suggestions about how I would find out if this story is true? Thanks. Margaret
